I have the same welder the way I found it works best is setting it on it on
decanted circuit if I have lights or drill press going at the same time
works like crazy but if it’s just the welder it’s better
The bumper should have came like that straight from warn! What kind of
Miller’s do you use at your work place? What kind of welding do you do? I’m
currently working towards my engineering degree in welding and at school I
get to use some dynasty350s that make the most beautiful stainless welds.
That Hobart didn’t really look like it got hot enough!
I bought a Lincoln a while from a guy who bought it from home depot new and
he had the same issue you had, welded good but not a lot of penetration. It
turned out it was set for reverse polarity out of the box I set for
electrode positive now it works great
I feel stupid for not figuring out that screwdriver trick at any point over
the last 10+ years, but I’m glad I know it now!
As for the welder, you just need a 240v machine…I love my Millermatic
175… granted it was a decade ago, but I spent $1,000 on the whole setup
(machine, bottle, wire, cart, hood, & gloves.)
I’m curious, what part of the country are you in? TN as well?
Would it not have been easier and safer to take the swing arm off and
measure and weld on the bench? Also reducing the risk of damaging the
vehicle… just my thoughts
Also did you actually gain any visibility?
Mate I loved the way you did that move to centre, and to see how I could
make a carrier up for my spare wheel carrier myself (get it out from
inside) I have thought about this a lot and when I check it out on my jeep
xj it looks as though it’s going to block the indicator light a bit to much
and yet yours only seems to cover about half!! You and Matt keep the vids
coming they are giving me ideas all the time!! hehehe ps: My wife hates
them cause it means spending money for me to do what I want to do!! hehehe
Wow, that thing looks beautiful, nice jeep man.
Your shirt looks like it got hit with bird shot
I didn’t know you carried a Kershaw Storm (or Storm II, hard to tell on
video). That’s badass!

Great video!
i’d love to know the specs/setup on this XJ. Looks real nice
Meanwhile there is a 35 ” bfg mudder on the side of the freeway mounted to
some scrap metal
yeah, I need a small welder, and it was cool to hear your point of view
thus far.. thanks.

Welder, you can tell by the t shirt. lol
Cover the glass on the Jeep before you grind or weld. The sparks will pit
the glass.

35’s? Chromoly axles? Type of axles?

Really digging this channel. I wish there was more of a community like this
for K5 Blazer owners. So jelly.
Rachet. Not wrench….
Nice video, Tim. Thanks for sharing and do keep us posted on the little
Hobart.
I want to be your neighbor..
