FYI: I just drilled a bunch (12 or so) of small holes (1/8″) in the garbage
container’s sides. So the air escapes as you fill it.

Drill a small hole in your trash can about a foot from the bottom. Also a
screw pointing up in the bottom of your bath tub?

I was was wondering on an experiment.
Will dry ice power a steam engine with enough force to run something like a
    generator?

Or you can just let the trash take out all the air for you instead of
vacuuming it.Yeah there will be some air but not that much.

PVC becomes brittle in sunlight. Those exposed PVC pipes should be covered
    or painted.

Instead of using a vacuum to to suck out the air, I have a different method
which doesn’t require anything extra. I wave the bag to fill it with air
then twist the bag to prevent the air from escaping. It looks like a
garbage bag balloon. You force the balloon to the bottom of the garbage
can, then untwist the bag and fold the bag over the can.

for the trashbag, I wonder if you could cut the bottom out and then add in
a circular piece to the bottom (like a cake pan) I wonder if you could use
this false bottom to draw the excess air out like the vacuum does….I must
    experiment!

Protecting/covering the vice grips from moisture would make them last for
    almost forever.

    trick number 2:
Instead of putting a whole in the bag, drill a tiny hole in the container.
    No more vacuum.
